Quality Control

PCI quality control - providing peace of mind for employers

Performance Coaching International takes every possible step to ensure its coaches are of the highest calibre available in the market.

The coaching industry can be a minefield for those looking to contract a company to offer personal coaching to their staff. It is a relatively young industry and is almost completely unregulated. For this reason anyone can set themselves up as a 'coach' with almost no prior experience at all.

This is why Performance Coaching International (PCI) operates and benchmarks itself at a considerably higher level than rivals.

Unlike most other coaching companies, PCI coaches and practises must adhere to standards set down by the Association for Professional Executive Coaching & Supervision, the leading professional body in this field.

We have an extremely demanding recruitment and selection process for our coaches.

  • All our Executive Coaches must be able to demonstrate extensive one-to-one executive coaching experience over at least five years. As a guide, extensive is taken to mean no less than 65% of a full-time portfolio.

Our coaches are required to provide evidence of their competence, including:

  • Professional training together with a formal, recognised qualification (e.g. BPS, UKCP, BACP or equivalent for the country where the applicant trained) in psychology, psychotherapy or counselling; OR portfolio evidence of an equivalent level of knowledge and understanding relevant to the coaching context;
  • A minimum of five years business experience (e.g. line management and/or consultancy) in addition to experience as an Executive Coach;
  • A detailed rationale/philosophy of their practice and model of working;
  • An understanding and application of ethical and boundary management considerations in coaching;
  • Evidence of and commitment to ongoing professional and personal development including self-awareness and supervision.

Our coaches must be able to demonstrate a positive contribution to the Executive Coaching profession, for example:

  • Published articles
  • Conference presentations
  • Published research

Our coaches must also give:

  • An undertaking to comply with any U.K. or E.U. requirements or those governing the geographic area in which they work;
  • Acceptance of and intention to abide by PCI's Ethical Guidelines
  • References from 2 referees and a statement from their supervisor confirming their competence

Our coaches also have regular of group and one-to-one supervision to support the continual development of their skills and performance.
